Tasmania – part 1

It was an island off an island

and I’d never lived in a place

like that before.

Tasmania was in most ways the exact

opposite to London

and I really felt I wanted something

completely different

It was on the other side of the world

It had mountains, beaches, the ocean

when London had the Thames and Hyde Park

It was hot and sunny in Hobart

When it was grey and raining in London

and UTAS had a small intimate campus

while City University had Nisa’s local on St John Street

and Kennedy’s fish and chips on Goswell Road just a minute´s walk away
