Too late

What do you like the most about this place?, they ask.

I like the jaguars and the rivers.

And I spend a whole week 

searching for jaguar cubs along the rivers in Pantanal 

And on my last day I watch 

the boats by the beach scouting the shore 

And they tell me the babies 

were right there two minutes ago.
